COTS FOOD BOX PROGRAM

Weekly emergency food delivery to very low-income seniors and families

No one should ever have to choose between paying for rent, utilities, medicine or food!  The economic challenges of the past year brought many more people to the Food Box program for help with groceries. Weekly, our volunteers collect, pack and deliver enough food to ensure that those living on the edge have one less worry. Last year COTS distributed 17,243 food boxes—and we're currently distributing over 750,000 pounds of food a year.

Overview:

• The Food Box Program is an adjunct to the Petaluma Kitchen’s daily meal program, and delivers more than 750,000 pounds of food each year to very low-income seniors and families in Petaluma.

• The Food Box Program is often the lifeline that prevents a family or senior from slipping into homelessness.

• Volunteer food sorters, packers and drivers meet every Saturday morning at the Kitchen to prepare and deliver emergency food to families and seniors who are referred by local churches, social service agencies and concerned friends or family.
