The mission of COTS is to offer help and hope to homeless persons, and to persons at risk for being homeless, in Southern Sonoma County by providing them safe shelter and helping them attain a home of their own.
Power and magic of commitmentOur mission statement, on its face, is dry; it doesn't tell you about the magic and electricity of COTS and our work. The following quotation, which prefaces our strategic plan, tells you more about what's happening at COTS:
“Until one is committed there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation) there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless plans and ideas: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no person could have dreamt would come their way.
