Bill and Connie Hammerman, COTS Supporters

Hammermans.jpg

Bill and Connie Hammerman arrived in Petaluma twenty years ago when COTS was just in its early stages of providing emergency shelter for the homeless.  Both retired educators from San Francisco, they quickly engaged with the community by volunteering in local causes.  Bill helped spearhead an initiative to get more computers in the schools. When he had too many, he would donate them to COTS.  A long term relationship with COTS began as John Records was taking over the shelter's leadership.  The Hammermans have watched it evolve under John's direction. They're impressed with how COTS has evolved to offer extensive services serving the needs of the homeless, including permanent housing.

Both cite his undying dedication and professionalism, as one of the most impressive things about COTS.   They are quick to mention that homelessness is a real problem, which COTS has tackled from every aspect.  They feel that COTS offers multiple services to addressing the problem, which is what people need to break the cycle of homelessness. When the Hammermans heard that COTS has a success rate almost double that of the national average helping the most vulnerable in our society, they were inspired to making a gift in their will. Committed to the community and supporting the most worthwhile of causes is why Connie and Bill have made a legacy gift to COTS.
